Software Reviews of Acronis True Image 11 Home [OLD VERSION]

Customer Review: Do not buy this software
Summary: 1 Stars

Looks good on the surface. However, when you install and use this software, it has 2 major drawbacks.

1. Backups overwrite each other. There is no option to select so that you get separate backups, the new one overwrites the old one. Bad because if the most current backup is corrupt, you don't have a previous one to rely on.

2. No destination drive management. Your disk gets full, no problem, Acronis stops backing up your data. Bad because it takes automation out of the picture, you have to manually make sure your disk is not full before the back up runs.

Both issues can have various work-arounds, but really, you should not need to use a work-around for such vital and basic needs in your backup software. Plus, the work arounds may not always work. I have to give this 1-star, it fails horribly at giving you a valid peace of mind.

Customer Review: Acronis refused to honor their 30 day warranty.
Summary: 1 Stars

I was dissatisfied with Acronis, because of incorrect advertising, and requested my money back within their 30-day warranty period. They refused to reply. I contacted them by email repeatedly, and they would not respond.

As for me, this company will never sell me another product.

Customer Review: No more worries
Summary: 5 Stars

The acronis 11 software application has been very helpful. A lot of nice features and easy to use. Within minutes I had my system backed up on an external drive. This is a nice investment for peace of mind when it comes to backing up your computer system. The user interface is easy to navigate and documentation is good. Thanks Acronis!

Customer Review: Great Home Imaging Software
Summary: 4 Stars

Not sure why some folks are having problems with restorals in this application. Maybe it's because I'm a systems manager...maybe not. I built a brand new tower this summer and loaded it with a Seagate 750GB SATA Drive as the primary OS drive. The drive failed within 2 months (I should have stayed with Maxtor.) Although the drive was under warranty and a replacement is on the way, I didn't feel like waiting for the drive to show up. I got a 300GB Maxtor drive and popped it in. My image is stored on an external 500GB drive. Fired up Acronis and went to work. It prompted me that the drive I wanted to use wasn't the same size and all it asked was if I wanted to use the 300GB drive and how much of it I wanted to use (all of it, of course.) It asked me if I wanted to verify before restoring the image (I said yes, but be warned it can take 6 hours or more to verify before restoring) and I went to bed. In the morning, it was all done and I rebooted the PC and all was right with the world. Lost a couple of files because my last backup was 5 days before, but these things happen. Say what you will, but Acronis did its job.

My only complaint is that the Try and Decide feature doesn't work with Vista Ultimate 64 Bit. Acronis tech support said to uninstall/reinstall, but it still freezes up when I activate it. If anyone knows how to get it working, I'd like to hear about it. Not having that feature is not a deal breaker. I wanted backup/recovery/imaging and this does it very well. As far as I'm concerned, it has already paid for itself. It has excellent compression and my 500+GB of data across 3 drives imaged at less than 80GB. Weekly differential backups take up little space as well.

When the new 750GB drive arrives, I'll do a quick image, swap the drive and restore the image back onto the big drive, then repartition the 300GB drive for the kids' PC...they need more storage anyway! I have no doubts that it will be just as seamless as it was the last time.

Customer Review: Acronis does not want to talk to you.
Summary: 1 Stars

If you have any problems you will not be able to get any tech support. In fact it is highly unlikely that you will ever be able to reach anyone at Acronis. I tried repeatedly using every method possible and nothing worked. Look for another product. Definitely not recommended. The product will not work with external drives.
