Software Reviews of Slam Dunk TypingCustomer Review: Still trying to use this on Vista Summary: 2 StarsWe just bought a new computer which came loaded with Vista (not the one I would have chosen form myself, but oh well). It has a feature that allows it to run older programs on it, but I can't get that to work until I get a glitch fixed that seems to be linked to outlook express.
I haven't given up on Slam Dunk yet. Has anyone had success using it with Vista?
P.S. I gave it two stars because I had to put in some number. I'll update this review if/when I get the program to work
Description of Slam Dunk TypingComputers may have done away with ribbons, correction tape, and manual carriage returns, but let's face it--you still gotta type. Whether you're an absolute beginner or a slightly embarrassed long-time hunt-and-pecker, Slam Dunk Typing will have you clicking and clacking confidently in no time. Best of all, its basketball-themed typing games are fun! But lest your game of hoops become a game of oops, you first need to practice with some drills. Fortunately, these aren't as dreary as you might think: there's a passing drill that gets your fingers accustomed to the locations of letters on the keyboard, a slam-dunk contest in which your typing speed dictates the style and success of the dunk, and a Missile Command-like game in which deadly "word basketballs" rain down on the court--unless your quick and nimble fingers can stop them by typing the word and blasting them out of the arena. OK, so it's not exactly NBA Live 2000, but at least you'll learn how to type. The drills can get a little repetitive, but a little repetition is a good thing here, especially if you're trying to master the delicate art of not looking down at the keyboard as you type. So bring your A game, but don't forget to bring your Q, W, E, R, T, and Y games, too. --Steve Landau Now there's an exciting new approach to typing that combines the thrill of fast-paced basketball action with addictive games guaranteed to build typing proficiency. Learn the entire keyboard through 70 typing challenges, analyze your progress with customized stat charts, and put your skills to the test in a full-court All-Star Championship. There's even a coach to help monitor your progress and offer tips for improving your skills. Now learning to type is a slam-dunk! (Ages 10 and older)
