Great product!! I bought it for my dad and he loves it.
He was using an older version and needed to upgrade. I found a good deal on amazon for the Platinum edition. He still goes on and on about how great it is.

This updated program has some fantastic improvements. There are many links to other family tree lines that have been posted, links to census information, travel logs, mapping to find where your relatives were located and so much more information. Once you start, you don't want to stop. It is user friendly program and I would recommend it if you are trying to find your heritage.Customer Review: FTM 2008 DUD

I brought the 2008 version after using 2005. After a few days I am going back to 2005. 2008 is hopeless!
I can't print an All in One Family Tree - you'd think that would be the first thing the programme could do. I want to see everyone's names!! Also when you do print a limited decendant chart the pages aren't numbered, so you're left with a file of papers and no idea how to assemble them.

I've never used Family Tree Maker before now, so I can't compare to past releases, but I really love this one. It is very easy to use, it holds all the information I want to keep and the map section is really cool. My only wish for this is that it would be able to syncronize with ancestry.com instead of having to do both separate. Otherwise it is great and I love it.
