I ordered Taxcut 2008 for State income tax return preparation and I received the Federal Program. It did not include the State return and I was forced to purchase the state return program for $29.95 from Taxcut directly.Customer Review: Good Program

I've been using Tax Cut for several years and have had no problems but my return is pretty simple. This year I had to do my mother-in-laws return after she passed away and hers was a little more complex as she owned an apartment building. I did the return manually based on her previous returns trying to understand the process (with some guidance from a friend who is a tax accountant) but I also did it thru Tax Cut to double check myself as she lived in CA and I don't. It found a state income exclusion that I was unaware of which was nice. There was a passive income/loss form that was included in her previous years worksheets that was not in the program, but as I understand it, it was not necessary to actually file it, at least for this year. Unless you are familiar with filing returns with depreciation, passive income/loss, etc., you would be better off using a tax accountant (at least until you understand the process) as the program gives you a basic explanation, but it assumes you know what you are doing. For simple returns it's great. I've been very happy with the product.Customer Review: Good product

I have been using TaxCut for seven years now. I am satisfied with the product and feel it is a good overall value. Amazon had the lowest price from other websites I researched, including [...]. Many people complained about the increase in price; however, many additional features were consolidated into one package. For example, this version includes a State return and up to four free e-filings. The only thing to be careful of is the fact that the price changes frequently. Because Amazon.com uses several different companies to provide this product, the price can fluctuate from day to day. As such, you may want to check the pricing over the course of a few days.Customer Review: This TaxCut is not worth the time

The TaxCut tax return software I bought supposed to have included federal, state program plus e-file. It came only with federal program and e-file. When I contacted Amazon, I was told that because the product came from a third party seller, they are not able to replace it. They offered me to return it and get a refund. But it's too late. I already used the federal program with the disk. I do not want to return it with the information in it. I have to buy a state program separately for $30 plus tax. Further more, it is clearly printed on the disk and the box it's in that it includes federal, state and e-file.Customer Review: Be aware of your State Tax electronic payment rules !

I have used several income tax products over the years and H&R Block Tax-Cut has been one of my choices due to it's ease of use and price. I did however experience a problem this past year e-filing my state taxes using this product. Some states DO NOT accept electronic payments made using the information i.e. electronic routing bank information that the Federal Taxes accepts when making payments through your Bank or Credit Union. When I used Tax-Cut to e-file, their was a also printable form that could be sent in to the State along with my payment if I chose to go that route. Above the printable form there was a statement that read " Do not use this payment voucher if you pay your tax on-line " I of course, believed that my state taxes had been paid and accepted for electronic payment in the same way that my Federal Taxes were paid. Taxcut gave me a DCN number and stated that my electronically filed State and Federal taxes were accepted.I was surprised to find out that my state taxes were not paid and I had to pay them on the state tax site using the same bank and routing information that was provided to Tax-Cut when I filed electronically. After calling Tax-Cut's support, I feel that I was not the only one who was confused by the information provided by TaxCut. I gave them 3 out of 5 because of the confusion.
