Software Reviews of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 [OLD VERSION]Customer Review: No Frills Anti-Virus Summary: 4 StarsThis seems like a no frills anti-virus solftware. The installation on Windows XP was simple. Not much hassle with any settings. The only dicosmfort is the updates: Kaspersky's site is unbelievably slow, or it appears this way; hence, the it takes forever to complete the updates. Hence 4 stars.
Customer Review: Always buy Kapersky Summary: 5 StarsI'm totally happy with this software. I've had it before (as recommended by Consumer Reports) and will still only buy Kapersky. Great product!
Customer Review: Not ready for Windows 7 yet Summary: 2 StarsWell phooey. I ordered this 2009 version, expecting it to surely work with my pre-release version of Microsoft Windows 7, but that turned out not to be possible. The installation disk did not recognize Windows 7 as a supported version. I then attempted to load the pre-release version available within Windows 7 itself, only to discover that version didn't fully work either, with the vendor's discussion board stating Windows 7 isn't officially supported yet.
I then tried installing the program on a Windows XP machine, only to discover after installation that it is incompatible with the free version of Zone Labs' firewall I've carefully tuned over a period of years.
It's nice such packages are now covering more security bases for users, but I'm a fan of using best-of-breed products, and only wanted this to be an anti-virus, not also a firewall or anti-spam product. At the very least, I'd like to be able to choose at install time which aspects of the program I wish to use.
Next time I need to build an XP PC from scratch, I'll try this again, but for now, much as I looked forward to trying this product, it's shelfware.
Customer Review: Does not meet my needs Summary: 2 StarsIt's hard to find decent anti-virus software that provides solid protection without slowing down your PC so much that it affects the performance. I've tried Norton, McAfee, and several free anti-virus software options, but they had clunky interfaces, were too intrusive, and/or put an excessive load on system resources. After installing this and seeing the performance hit that my PC took, I uninstalled it and went back to AVG Free. The interface was OK, but I'm not willing to sacrifice my system's speed in order to get a higher level of protection against viruses. I'm not saying it's a bad product, but it did not meet my needs.
Customer Review: Kaspersky AntiVirus 2009 is great! Summary: 5 StarsThe Kaspersky Anti-virus 2009, and Kaspersky products in general, are great against virus. Since I've ordered the product, I haven't had any computer problems. However, once the anti-virus expires, it is imperative to purchase or upgrade the package, otherwise your computer will be vulnerable to newer viruses. My computer was infected exactly two months after the software expired. I would recommend this to anyone.
