Customer Review: Nero 9 Summary: 5 StarsDid exactly what I expected and more. Another fine Nero product that has plenty of versatility and ease of use.
Customer Review: NOT FOR THE LAYMAN Summary: 1 StarsOnce you have received your degree in audio and video engineering Nero 9 is the program for you. Until you have reached that degree of professionalism, avoid Nero 9. The tutorials and manuals are great tools for the person who knows what they are doing and only needs guidance in how to accomplish the desired effects, but do nothing to help an individual that wants to learn how to accomplish those desired effects. The manuals might as well have been written in a foreign language for all the help and guidance they provide.
Customer Review: Insufficient commitment to software quality standards Summary: 1 StarsI have been using Nero software for many years, having switched from earlier versions of Roxio CD Creator software. One application in the Nero suite that I use extensively to modify and split larger WAV and MP3 files into smaller files is Nero Wave Editor. This application says that it has a "customizable" toolbar. There are certain functions I use regularly, such as "Insert Track Split" and "Insert File" but the are not on the toolbar that comes loaded with the application. Despite a procedure in the software to add icons to the standard toolbar, or to create an entirely new "customized" toolbar, there is no way to accomplish this. The software simply fails to work as promised.
I understand that software applications have bugs--flaws which can and should be fixed. But I am frustrated that Nero is unwilling to fix this problem. I have reported this to Nero 3 or 4 times over the past 5 years. Initially, they informed me this problem would be addressed in the next version (moving from Nero 6 to 7) but after upgrading I learned no such fix had been made. Then Nero promised a fix would occur in the transition from Nero 7 to 8, but neither did it happen then. I have not upgraded to Nero 9. Nor will I move to Nero 10.
For the past several years there has been a new official Nero response to my request:
"Unfortunately as you already know it is not possible to create user defined toolbar. We already forwarded this petition to our software developers, and unfortunately I have to inform you that it is not planned to fix or apply this function to a future Nero version."
Keep in mind, I am not requesting new functionality, but only that which is already promised within the software. This tells me Nero is not committed to delivering a high quality product across the entire suite of applications. By scanning the preponderance of negative reviews from others, it is apparent I am not alone in this view. Now, I have no option but to take another look at Roxio.
Customer Review: Totally a trash Summary: 1 StarsI have a couple of friends trying to use this Nero 9 and most of them choose it simply because they think Nero 8 is good. Tremendous problems came out for their Nero 9 experiences. For one friend, Nero 9 crashed his Vista system so he had to reinstall the OS and the technical support of Nero 9 was quite rude. They want to charge $[...] per minute on his credit card before answering any technical questions. And they denied the return as well. For another friend, the optical drive never recognize the disk. I check the review here and found out some other persons got the same problem. You are lucky if the disk will be recognized by your computer. I guess that's why Nero want to sell the disk with rebate(s) sometimes, so without a UPC, no way to do a return...
