Customer Review: Poor dictation, disappointing.

I bought the software to convert record lectures into text for easy review. It took along time to convert the lectures to text, which is probably to be expected. Looking at the converted text was very disappointing. Between 30 to 50% of the words were translated incorrectly. Going back and listening to the recording on my Sony IXD-UX71 the lecture was very clear, better that I expected it to be actually. The problem may be dues to limitations of the dictionary used. As it is, the software is useless to me. I still need to go through and listened to everything to manually transcribe it correctly.Customer Review: Works great with Windows XP

I read several reviews about this product, and most of the gripes people had were about installing and running this product with Windows Vista. I purchased the product with Windows XP, and the installation was nearly flawless. I say nearly, because the program wants to install some files on the C: Drive, and I needed to free up about a gigabyte of space. Otherwise, this program runs very well, and I'm using it to dictate the book I'm writing. I expect to have to correct some of the words occasionally, but that's just the "nature of the beast," so to speak.
This product also allows you to use a digital voice recorder. I have the SONY IC Recorder ICD-PX720. When you dictate on the recorder, then plug it in, you can download your recording into a software program that is included with this device. If you want to use the recording device, you may not wish to record too much at one time, because it can take some time save to a file on your drive.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who does a lot of dictation. Just make sure you're using Windows XP, and have at least 1GB of space on your C: Drive. The rest of the installation you can put on whatever drive(s) you want.

I was shocked to find that the $5o rebate only applied to the most recent OWNERSHIP of Dragon, or ViaVoice, both of which were unsatisfactory products. Dragon Ver 6 was way too slow and inaccurate,and ViaVoice Ver 8, although much faster was awkward to use.
Upon opening the carton, the retail box excluded these products, and due to the shipping time, I would have only about a week to evaluate the product. I am in my mid-70's, living on a fixed income, and cannot afford to gamble that your product will work. Before I returned the product, unopened, I again Googled your product and this time found many negative comments.

The product came in a generic looking box and appeared to look like it was scalped version. I had purchased one at Staples but the one advertised here on Amazon was less expensive so I ordered it. My husband ended up not wanting the program and I returned it. I have used the Deluxe Version and it takes some time for it to "learn" your words, but when it does, it is very nice. I didn't read the fine print about returning this item and it cost me a heavy re-stocking fee plus return postage! I paid about $20 for something I never used! I won't order anything I think I might have to return because of that fee.
