No, I am not being redundant. I typed the first paragraph. I dictated the second paragraph with Dragon version 10. Dragon is now both faster and more accurate than my typing. The proof is in the dictation.
Customer Review: pretty darn good Summary: 5 StarsThis is my first time ever in reviewing a product.
The product I purchased was Dragon naturally speaking 10, the standard edition.
After reading all of the pros and cons written about this product on this site, one thing did get my attention and that was the amount that this company charged for support with either an e-mail or a phone call when a person is having problems with their product.
With that in mind I decided to purchase the product anyway and if it didn't work as stated I would return it with Amazon's proven return policy .
I am totally amazed at the accuracy of this product, I would definitely say to anyone that if you do do a lot of writing this Dragon NaturallySpeaking is a product I would definitely endorse. I have installed this program on both of my computers, one is a 3 GHz and the other is a 2.9 GHz.
Both have Microsoft XP as an operating system and the total time to install it on both computers took no more than five minutes each with another five or six minutes for the training.
Also I am not a computer whiz, just average with computer skills.
Customer Review: Essential for any writer Summary: 5 StarsAmazing software! Easy to install and to operate - though I agree with many others, the headset mic to come included is to be tossed! Sorry, not tossed, but rather; given away, recycled as parts, goodwill donation, etc. One you upgrade to a noise reduction headset/mic, this software is perfection. I like Plantronics foldable USB stereo headset(audio 470 USB), but do your own research on which works best for you. Upgrading the mic/headset is essential, trust me. I get better each day and the word mistakes ratio diminish each time, it learns from you, and you learn from it. You'd be amazed at how much your diction improved in your daily life as well. I must thank all the other reviewers on amazon, because I learn so much from them. Buy this product, it's the future!
Customer Review: Way Cool! Summary: 5 StarsBought this for work reasons. I have a lot of documentation of client information to do on a daily basis. This works really great! Many of my coworkers have purchased it too and love it. The more you use it the better it recognizes your voice and is familiar with your terms and frequently used names. The only bummer was that it was for sale at Staples online the day after I got it for one day at the cost of $30.00. Even though I paid a little more, it was well worth it!
Customer Review: Works for me on Vista 64-bit Summary: 5 StarsI hesitated many times buying Dragon Naturally Speaking 10, because people said it did not work on Vista 64-bit. But after reading the company's website, I found that there was a patch for the software, that would allow it to not just work on Windows Vista 64-bit, but Windows 7 as well! As soon as I heard this, I bought the software while it was on sale on Amazon.com. When I opened the UPS box it came in, the product box had a sticker that said "Works in Windows Vista 64-bit"! I then installed Dragon, and was happily surprised to see it working on my OS, without the patch!
Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 takes a few minutes to set up, since it has to "learn" your speech patterns. Once you go through the tutorial and read something into the program, it recognizes your speech. It does make mistakes every so often, but you can teach the program to fix those mistakes, so it will not make them in the future. So far, I love the program, and find it most useful when I need to dictate a storyline in Windows Word Processor. I would recommend you wait for the software to go on sale before buying, however. $100 is a bit much, even if it does come with a nice headset (Which is optional, you can set the program up to a USB headset or any kind, really) Beside the price of the software, I give it five stars.
