Software Reviews of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 Standard [OLD VERSION]Customer Review: No Dragon Fan! Summary: 1 StarsI REALLY tried to make this program work because I type lengthy narrative documents. Just couldn't, no matter what I did I continued to have multiple multiple errors. Quicker to type than use the program. Received NO support from Nuance and to make matters worse, returned the program for a refund in August 08 but am still WAITING for my refund. Their website was down when I received an email instructing me to go to the site for address etc so I called customer support. The address I was given was wrong. Thank goodness I shipped it back via UPS BUT even though I have a date/time and the name of the person that signed for the product, and a written email from October that a check is being issued, my refund check still has not shown up. Would never make another purchase from that company nor would I ever recommend them to anyone I know!!!
Customer Review: No, I am not dictating this review! Summary: 2 StarsI did the training. I did a lot of training. This thing turns itself off whenever it feels like it. The "Help" feature is the worst ever. Sometimes the dictation, -- iof I can get it to work at all - comes out pretty good, but sometimes complete and utter gibberish appears. Solmetimes it gets the last part of a sentence only. I hate this crappy software!!!
Customer Review: Good Product Lousy Company Summary: 2 StarsI had Dragon's Naturally 7 and I thought it was a pretty good product. When I got a new computer I upgraded to 9 - and what a mess its been. I'm going to do a bad thing and write a review before I've even used the product. I accept that it will basically do what its supposed to do - its getting it to start that is the problem. The program is activated but the microphone will not turn on - so the product is useless at the moment.
Their support system is atrocious; since I bought it several months ago I'm out of my 'free call' period. Not only will it cost me $20 to talk to someone about it it'll cost me $10 just to e-mail. There's absolutely nothing on their FAQ's about the program being unwilling to even turn on. An attempt to join their community forum failed.
My take; Nuance is just another tech company that doesn't a hoot about customer support; if I had another choice I'd be with them in second.
Customer Review: Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 preferred Summary: 4 StarsProduct shipped quickly to the UK, but Microidea hadn't made any arrangements for paying VAT, so I was hit with a bill for ?25 covering VAT and a special courier charge as well. To their credit, though, when I wrote to complain, they refunded me the ?25.
Then, when I tried to install the product, one of the files was corrupted, although that was (presumably) the fault of Dragon, not Microidea, and Dragon sorted it out quickly enough.

I CALLED nuance just to ask about their tech support options and was appalled at the lack of human contact! I write this after having purchased returned version 10, and thinking that possibly version #9 would work! Thank God I took the time to see what I would be getting into!
AS WAS SAID BY DEAN ESTUS OF GEORGE MICHAEL FAME: OH WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, WHAT A WASTE, HEAVEN HELP ME!!!
