Customer Review: Great Product with the Right Computer !

I bought Dragon Naturally Speaking, about three months ago, because I do not like to type, but need to do a lot of typing for work. I installed it on my laptop which is about two years old and has a 1.67MHz CPU and 1 GB of memory. The product worked sporadically well. Sometimes very well and sometimes rather sluggish. I replaced the microphone that came with the software with an eight dollar Plantronics headset. The accuracy of the program improved quite a bit, but I still had problems with the software. This included numerous corruptions of the user files necessitating re-creating these files from the backup files. This was not that difficult to do, but most users probably would have given up using the program at this point. After using Dragon for a while and monitoring memory usage of the machine on the task manager I decided that adding more memory might make the program work better. I added 512 MB of memory to the 1GB I already had in the machine and the program now performs flawlessly. It types on the screen as fast as I can talk, with tremendous accuracy. I not only use this program for typing reports, but I use it for almost everything including my e-mails. I highly recommend this program to anyone who needs to type significant amounts, or who does not like to type, but make sure that your computer has the horsepower to use this program or you will probably be very disappointed.Customer Review: Dragon Naturally Speaking

I no longer type anything over about ten words in length. I was a Via Voice user for many years but the time needed to "train" the system and the spotty performance made me only use it for big projects where I could dedicate a time and very quiet place to dictate.
Dragon 9.5 took 10 minutes to set up and even works well when my kids are running the TV and stereo upstairs. If you've ever tried speech-text before and been disappointed, try this. You will be impressed!

I will definitely NOT buy this product. I refuse to be RIPPED OFF $10 for EACH AND EVERY time you e-maill or call customer service. This is totally ludicrous, and the support service should be included with the purchase of the product. Apparent Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking is trying to squeeze every nickle and dime out of their customers. I refuse to by any product by a company that will do that to their customers. I think this is about the ONLY company that charges for their support. Try to find an alternative voice recognition software company who will support their product free of charge.
