I've had versions 8, 9, 10 and 11, so am familiar with this software. My old computer was breaking down so had to by a new one. None of my old versions would work with the new Vista operating system, so had to buy version 12. There are couple of things of which the buyer should be aware:
1# If your computer has an integrated graphics board#built into the mother board), the plug-in 'Magic Bullet Looks' that comes with V12 Ultimate WILL NOT WORK- YOU MUST HAVE A NVIDIA OR ATI GRAPHICS BOARD to use this plug-in. This is an added expense.
2) V12 studio software no longer provides hardware or software for capture of Analog files, such as old VHS video that you may wish to edit and digitize. A DC10 card & software that Pinnacle provided for earlier versons is no longer offered or supported. To capture analog files, you must purchase separate hardware/software such as Dazzle. Another added expense.
Once you have these extras, the software performs as advertised.
Interesting P.S. - The day after I registered this software online, I received an advertisement from Pinnacle/Avid for the latest and greatest - STUDIO ULTIMATE V. 14.
I believe I've received that same ad from them at least a half dozen times since. That's my 2 cents worth of opinion on Studio Ultmate V.12

I love this item. It works great. It does require so much ram but it's all worth it. I love the Pinacle Studio, especially Pinnacle Plus and Ultimate. I would definitely buy again. A+++++Customer Review: Just lost a customer

All I can say is do not waste your time and money on a junk program like this. It constantly freezes, crashes, and I can't even burn a blu ray disc when I can burn it fine using other program. This program also runs extremely slow even on a computer with sufficient specs (i.e. core 2 duo 3.0ghz, 4gb memory, and dual 1024 ATI Radeon HD 4870 crossfired, etc.). Even adding simple transition effects takes forever; for example, you add some transtion effects between scenes and you have wait a very long time before you actually create a disc image, otherwise the program will freeze or crash.
I have spent many, many frustrating days trying to get this program working on my computer and I finally gave up. I will never ever buy anything that says Pinnacle on it.
