Customer Review: Works Great As Long As You Don't Have Reinstall It

The overall software WAS great, however after an update, It "disappeared" off of my computer. After the initial reinstall I got the message "Certificate File Missing", and the software would not operate with the "authorization. It takes about 30 minutes each way to uninstall and reinstall. IT MUST BE A COMPLETE UNINSTALL. See the instructions below FROM ROXIO as for a COMPLETE UNINSTALL. This is copied and pasted from the website! GOOD LUCK
Clean install instructions for Creator 2009 on Windows Vista
Issue
How to uninstall Creator 2009 on Windows Vista.
Note: These instructions will also work for just about any other Sonic or Roxio application as well, but at your own risk.
Before continuing, be sure that your software is compatible with Windows Vista before reinstalling.
Resolution
The following steps will completely remove any Roxio and Sonic software from your computer.
1.Disable your startup applications using MSCONFIG. This will disable any unnecessary background or system tray applications from loading.
Go to Start -> Run. Type "msconfig" (without quotes) then click OK.
Select the Startup tab.
Click the Disable All button.
Click the Apply button, then click the OK button.
Click the Restart button.
To reverse this at the end of installation, go back into MSCONFIG and select Enable All and restart (that can be done once installation is complete).
Note: Some anti virus/spyware programs may not be disabled using the steps listed above. You may need to check with your anti virus/spyware vendor on how to temporarily disable them.
2.Remove Creator 2009 through the Programs Control Panel.
Go to Start -> Control Panel
Under Programs, click Uninstall a program
Click Roxio Creator 2009, then click Uninstall above the Name column.
3.Download the Microsoft Windows Installer Clean Up Utility to your desktop and install to remove Roxio and Sonic software
Click here to go to the download page.
Scroll down to and click on Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package now.
Click on Save and choose to save it on your Desktop.
On your Desktop, double-click on msicuu2.exe file and follow the on-screen instructions to install
Click on Start -> All programs -> Windows Install Clean up
Select Roxio Creator 2009, DirectXInstallService, and any entry that starts with Roxio, Sonic, EMC, or SmartSound.
Click on Remove.
4.For the step below you will need to show hidden files. This can be done by clicking Start -> My Computer then go up and click on Organize -> Folder and Search Options. Click on the View tab. Make sure show hidden folders is selected and click Apply.
5.Delete these folders from your hard drive. Not all folders may be present.
NOTE: When trying this step you may receive a message that a "file is in use". Simply drag that file to your desktop and it can be removed after restarting the computer. Also note that "Username" referred to below is the name you use when logging into Windows Vista.

Empty the recycle bin once the steps above are completed.
6.Remove these keys from the registry:
WARNING: THE NEXT STEP INVOLVES EDITING YOUR SYSTEM REGISTRY. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU EXPORT YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY EDITING. EDITING YOUR REGISTRY INCORRECTLY CAN CAUSE IRREPARABLE SYSTEM DAMAGE.
To export a copy of your registry, please do the following
Click on Start --> Type "regedit" in the Search field and press Enter on your keyboard.
Locate and left click File in the upper left hand corner of the Registry editor.
Click Export (Export range "All" should be selected).
Choose a location on your hard drive and give the file a name.
Click Save. Your registry should now be backed up in a .reg file to the location you specified
Registry Edit instructions for HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder:
Click on Start --> Type "regedit" in the Search field and press Enter on your keyboard.
Double-click the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder this will expand or open the folder.
Locate the Software folder.
Locate the Roxio folder.
Right click on Roxio and click delete.
Do the same for the Sonic folder (if present).
Close the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder.
Registry Edit instructions for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder:
Double-click the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder this will expand or open the folder.
Locate the Software folder
Locate the Roxio, Sonic, Sonic Desktop Software folders
Right click on each folder and click Delete.
Locate the Wow6432Node folder
Right click on the Roxio and Sonic folders and click Delete.
Close the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder.
7.Restart the computer then reinstall Easy Media Creator.
Customer Review: Much memory Hog, difficult Movie editing

Ah, I was so proud when I got this in the mail and as soon as I tried, a huge disappointment. I have Windows Ultimate with a dual processor and 4 gig of memory and this program bogs down memory. I tried to edit a movie I recorded and it is a pain in the you know what. It edits down to the 10th of a second which is good but if you are not good at pausing in between commercials then you are going to have a good time with this. I pretty much had to watch the whole show to edit it. It took me 5 hours just to edit the movie and I still missed on some commercials. Whatever happened to the fade to black as a transition? This program has goofy transitions and it is a pain to ad them because you have to watch the whole program and pause in between breaks. I used to have the older My DVD program before and what a breeze that was. Now, they just created a disaster. I do not recommend this program unless you are really in to video editing because it is too complicated now for the regular person who just wants to edit a few home movies. It works well after you've played with the features a bit. Not exactly intuitive for the kind of projects that I've been working on -- sports showcase videos. A lot of info is probably buried in the handbook that I haven't read cover to cover. Take some time to review -- especially if you are not used to working with graphics and want to customize your own DVD covers.Customer Review: Fast Service very fast!

I purchased Roxio Creator Ult. 2009 the speed of your workers is second to none! I did not install it yet but will soon and will give the input.

Don't waste your money on this, I did. Get Cyberlink DVD Suite 7 Ultra, I did.
Don't count on Creater working out of the box if you buy it. Install then go online and download the SP3 and other patches, then it'll run but you won't be happy with it! (anybody want mine?)
