I bought this because I like sony vegas a lot and I had SONY VEGAS PRO 8 but lost it due to formatting my computer and loosing my disc, this is a lot like it except cheaper, great for its price and for the people looking to start editing videos, but you might want some experience before using this.Customer Review: Vegas 9.0b works with Windows 7 64-bit - so far

After reading the reviews, I decided to download the trial versions of the three software packages and tried out several scenarios for video editing and DVD creation. Even though the system requirements only list Vista compatible (both 32-bit and 64-bit), I thought I would give it a try. Everything worked perfectly. I ordered the product from Amazazon (by far and best price and service and early delivery FREE!). I uninstalled the trial versions and proceeded to install the disc versions. To my great surprise, the computer froze up! What? So here is the solution that finally worked:
1. I uninstalled the disc loaded versions on the computer and restarted the computer.
2. I installed the trial versions from Sony's website:

These versions: Vegas: 9.0b (build 92), DVD Architect 4.5d (Build 107), Sound Forge 9.0d (Build 232)
3. Here are some tips to make sure it works:
A. Download one program at a time and install as a trial version.
B. Restart the computer after each program installation.
C. When you run the program, follow the instructions to register with your Product Key
EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT -- SO FAR!
Here are some video and audio formats I have tried and work:
VIDEO: DV, MPEGs 1 and 2 and 3, Windows Media Video(WMV)8 and 9 and 10, Sony Motion JPEG
AUDIO: MPEG Layer 1 and 2 and 3, Window Media Audio (WMA) 9 and 10, Uncompressed and also the Fraunhofer HE-AAC format that is standard for songs on CDs.
Because I used the Version 6 of this software for the past 3 years, I was familiar with the format and professional options in the program, so the learning curve was minimal. I make DVDs from clips I have taken of family events, and I am also a recording artist writing and recording my own songs. The combination pack is great for U-Tube recording, especially as combined with my Samson CO1U USB Studio Condenser mic purchased also from Amazon.

I have had this software for a year and produced 4 or 5 10 minute videos. The last attempt pushed me over the edge. It is just about impossible to create a DVD from this software. I have spent 40+ hours trying to get a 15 minute video to DVD and the software simply crashes or disappears completely. This is a complete dog. Sony's tech support is non-existent. Don't believe me - Google the software and see for yourself. You've been warned.Customer Review: Better than most but not great

This program is better than most but it is not great! They say they will produce HD but that is only on Blue-Ray disks!!! Yes, Sony won the Blue-ray war but will not support the home user who still have a DVD, you can only do HD on blue-ray (sticking it to the consumer). Their surround sound needs a lot of work. Yes you can produce surround sound but you cannot easily fad from from front to back; you have to control them separately. There is a much easier way to do it but Sony doesn't give you that option.
If you have the previous version and wanted to program HD without blue-ray or don't really care for surround sound don't waste your money use the earlier version you have.
These are just my opinions, I am sure others will disagree: I am just a simple user not a video producer.

My rating is currently low since I can't even get the program to install. I hope my review changes if I can ever get it installed as I've heard many great things. Sony support is terrible. One should not have to pay to speak to a live person just to get the program installed. Support via email is down right useless!! Hopefully I'm not stuck with useless software.
