Software Reviews of Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro PackCustomer Review: Limitations when using Sony Vegas 9.0 for blu ray Summary: 3 StarsThis program is indeed stable and powerful. However, newcomers will find two big limitations, especially if they want to convert AVCHD video into blu-ray discs. First, nothing in the Studio program quick start guide or help files tells you that adding chapters and chapter menus to your video project requires using a second program, DVD Architect. In fact, the help files for Studio do not even include the term "menus." Why Sony requires two separate programs to simply add chapters and a basic scene menu to your project is never made clear and is a distinct shortcoming. And no documentation even explains the need to use both programs. Second, when you do finally figure out that you need to use DVD Architect to add chapters and menus, the unpleasant surprise is that DVD Architect Studio 4.5 -- the program supplied in this package -- does not allow you to burn blu-ray quality video. For that, you have to pay over $500 for the Vegas "Pro" package. So after buying my Sony AVCHD camcorder and Movie Studio 9, the only thing I can produce that contains menus is fuzzy standard definition video. Sony's claim that this program allows us to burn high definition discs is highly misleading. Yes, you can use Studio 9 to burn HD, but only if you forgo standard disc features.
Customer Review: Vegas Movie 9 Platinum Summary: 4 StarsReceived the software in a timely fashion. The Sony Vegas main software did install on my 64 bit system fine (and now works with Win 7) however I did have to go to the Sony Creative Software site to get the latest downloads for the Sound Forge and DVD architect ad on's as the software on the CD was to old. (Needed a different key code)I called Sony and they helped me through the process so it wasn't a big deal. Software works great. Was also the best price i have seen anywhere. This is not a beginner Movie Maker software but if your patient it will come. There are also loads of tutorials on U Tube and Sonys site.
Customer Review: Vegas is awesome! Summary: 5 StarsI've been a Vegas Pro 8 user for several years and love it! Started out with Adobe Elements and outgrew it really fast. Then went for the upgrade. The Vegas Platinum 9 version doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the pro version, but for the average hobbyist, it has everything you'll ever need. I am getting this package for a friend as a Christmas gift this year. She's just purchased a camcorder and wants/needs editing and DVD authoring tools. I think she's going to love this. Granted, Vegas does have a learning curve, After 3 years, I'm still learning things myself. But if you have any computer savvy whatsoever, you'll find your way through this. If you're looking for a 'Video Editor For Dummies' use Windows Movie Maker and get lousy results. Once you master the Vegas basics, you'll be producing fabulous projects that look professional. Pick up a guidebook to help answer questions. Use the tutorials you can find online on YouTube. Network with other Vegas users. There are lots of options for help if you go looking for them. Don't be intimidated! This is a powerful editing software at a truly amazing price!
Customer Review: sony vegas 9 not complicated like some said Summary: 5 StarsI had sony vegas movie studio+DVD which is like version 4 not sure.I was using it on my windows xp but I bought a new computer and is a windows 7.I made a movie, rendered, and then edited on architect but I couldn't burn the dvd, after checking everything I realized it was not compatible with windows 7,so I did a research and found this one saying it would be compatible so I bought it.I did read some reviews saying it was complicated but is not.Since I had a previous version of sony vegas I didn't have a problem getting familiar with this new version. They kind of look the same but this new version 9 has more feautures than my old one.
Customer Review: Deceptively Powerful Summary: 4 StarsThis program, if used properly, will produce professional results. It has all the tools and some nice upgrades from previous versions. Also, the HD capability future proofs so even if you can't afford to upgrade to HD cameras, this will remain useful once that happens.
