Software Reviews of Crazy Machines 2Customer Review: fun and educational Summary: 4 Starsmy 3 yr old is on summer break. My 80 year old dad is watching him while I work. I was looking for something they can play together. My dad likes puzzles and I believe my son would enjoy watching those machines move.
I was right. They both like the game. My dad would explain to my son what needs to be done and my son would do the mouse moving and clicking.
My only complain is that you need to have the software CD in the CD driver while playing it. So you can't have 2 people playing on different machines at the same time. also, the manual is not very clear. It took my dad a while to fingure out the controls
Customer Review: Review of the demo: not bad, but needs improvement Summary: 3 StarsI'm assuming the demo is just the full version with fewer puzzles? If this is not the case please let me know so I can revise my review.
THE GOOD
1. This is still a fun game compared to older versions of Rube-Goldberg games. Newer physics modelling has made the game more challenging.
2. The graphics are very pretty.
THE BAD
1. The tutorial section doesn't give the user a complete picture of how different components are used. After the tutorial, the 2nd puzzle introduced new elements which I had no idea how to use! It makes for a frustrating experience if you don't know, for example, that the crossbow trigger only moves in one direction.
2. None of the shortcut keys work. I can't get a reminder of the puzzle goals, change the background, or get help.
3. Unlike the screenshots, I am unable to change my view of the experiment. I can zoom in & out and pan around, but I can't change the angle. So in this respect the game is just a 2-D experience which taxes my CPU & GPU unnecessarily.
4. The game's main improvement (the physics) can also be it's downfall. It sometimes makes an otherwise fun game TOO challenging, and tax your computer's resources too much. This should still be a game, not simply a physics demonstration.
Customer Review: Doesn't work Summary: 1 StarsI attempted to run Crazy Machines 2 immediately after installation and was prompted to TAGES copy protection as an administrator. This does not make me feel comfortable, but I was on a test computer so I proceeded anyway.
Windows then blocked TAGES copy protection saying it prevents the computer from booting after restarting and gave me a link to download an update from TAGES website. I figured it's not worth the hassle to fight copy protection just to play a game, so I uninstalled Crazy Machines 2 and tossed the disc in the trash.
Customer Review: Won't work! Summary: 1 StarsThe game works on one of two computers with Windows Vista and plenty of memory, and required video card. It doesn't work at all on my computer with Windows XP. Last time I buy a Crazy Machines product.
Customer Review: Fun game. Needs more horsepower that previous 2 editions. Summary: 3 StarsI bought this game for my sons (ages 6 and 9) after they had such a great time with Crazy Machines 1, and 1.5. I was disappointed to learn that it won't run on their PC.
I'm sure it's their older video card- an NVidia GeForce3. So for now, they play it on my PC, while I look for an inexpensive video card upgrade for theirs.
